About Cleveland Cabinets

Independence Kitchens, Drawn and Built Here

Our Cleveland showroom is a working cabinet store and a design studio in one room. Drive up from Independence and you can open real doors, run a hand along a countertop edge, and see finishes under proper light instead of guessing from a phone screen. A designer sits down with you at the table, takes your measurements and your list of frustrations, and draws a layout around both. The same company that draws it supplies the cabinets and sends the crew that installs them.

Our Services

Our Remodeling Services for Independence

Six services, one team, from the first sketch to the last piece of trim in your Independence home.

Kitchen Remodeling

We handle full kitchen remodeling for Independence homes, from the first layout to the final install. That covers cabinets, countertops, lighting and the crew that fits them, all managed by one team.

Bathroom Remodeling

Cleveland Cabinets remodels bathrooms across Independence, the main bath and the small one tucked under the stairs. We replace vanities, tops and storage, and rework the layout when the room is fighting you.

Cabinet Installation

If your Independence kitchen only needs new boxes, we supply and install cabinets on their own. Our installers scribe to your walls and floors, so doors line up on older streets and newer builds alike.

Countertop Installation

We template, fabricate and install countertops for Independence kitchens and bathrooms. You choose the stone at the showroom, we cut the sink opening and the edge profile, then set it in place.

Laundry Room Cabinets

Laundry rooms in Independence homes are often two machines and a bare wall. We add cabinets, a folding surface and a proper spot for detergent, brooms and everything else that piles up down there.

Mudroom and Entryway

Most Independence families come in through the garage door, not the front. We build benches, hooks, cubbies and closed storage so coats and boots stop landing on the kitchen counter.

Get Directions from Independence
Main Driving Route

From most of Independence, work your way to Rockside Road or Brecksville Road and get on I-77 north. Take the I-480 west ramp and stay on I-480 as it crosses the valley and runs west past Brookpark and the airport.

Exit at Clague Road and turn north. Follow Clague to Lorain Road, turn right, and the showroom is a short run east at 19389 Lorain Rd. Parking is at the building.

Major Roads and Intersections

The local feeders are Rockside Road, Brecksville Road (State Route 21) and East Pleasant Valley Road, all of which reach I-77 within a few minutes.

I-480 west is the spine of the trip. If traffic is heavy at the I-77 and I-480 interchange, Brookpark Road (State Route 17) runs west on the surface and meets W 210th Street, which carries you north to Lorain Road.

Coming home, the same route reverses: Lorain Road east or west to Clague or Great Northern Boulevard, south to I-480 east, then I-77 south to Rockside Road.

Landmarks Along the Way

You leave past the Rockside Road office corridor and hotels, then cross the Cuyahoga Valley on I-480. Airport signage for Cleveland Hopkins tells you the halfway point is behind you.

Once you exit and reach Lorain Road you are in Fairview Park. If you pass Fairview Hospital you have gone too far east, and if you reach Great Northern Boulevard you have gone too far west.

Kitchen remodeling in Independence

The two kinds of Independence kitchens we see

Independence is a small city with two very different kitchen problems inside it. On the older streets around the Old Village and off Brecksville Road, the kitchen is a closed room with a door to the dining room, a door to the basement and a door to the back yard. Every wall already has something on it, which leaves almost no unbroken run of counter to work with.

On the newer streets off Stone Road and Hillside Road the problem flips over. The kitchen is large, but the cabinets are spread thin around the outside walls and the middle of the room does nothing at all. Those homeowners do not need more square footage. They need the storage moved to where they actually stand.

There is a third pattern worth naming. Plenty of Independence houses have a formal dining room that gets used twice a year while the family eats at a crowded counter. Freeing that space up is often the single biggest change we make.

All three start the same way at our Cleveland showroom, about 25 minutes up I-77 and I-480. You bring measurements and a list of what annoys you, and a designer draws around it.

What we change in an Independence kitchen

Where the layout usually gets fixed

The wall between the kitchen and the dining room is the first thing we look at. In a lot of Independence homes it carries nothing, and taking it out turns two cramped rooms into one that works. When it does carry load, we say so and design around it rather than pretending otherwise.

Corners come next. Blind corner cabinets swallow whatever gets pushed into them and never give it back. Pull out hardware and deep drawer banks recover that space, and drawers under the cooktop beat a low door with a shelf behind it every time.

Then the tall wall. Most kitchens here stop the upper cabinets a foot below the ceiling and fill the gap with dust and cereal boxes. Running cabinets to the ceiling, or adding a tall pantry beside the fridge, is usually the easiest storage on the whole plan.

Last is the way you come in. Independence families come through the garage, so the door into the kitchen becomes the drop zone whether you planned it or not. We give it a home instead of letting the counter absorb it.

Planning a kitchen project in Independence

Decisions to make before the work starts

Start with appliances. Their sizes set the cabinet widths, and swapping a range for a separate cooktop and wall oven late in the process changes the entire run. Bring model numbers if you already have them, or photos of the ones you are considering.

Then decide whether the sink moves. Moving it means plumbing, and once plumbing or electrical work is involved the job goes through the City of Independence building department for permits. We prepare the drawings that go with the work we perform.

Plan for a kitchen you cannot use. Most Independence homes have a basement or an attached garage that can hold a temporary fridge, a microwave and a folding table. Setting that up before demolition day makes the whole project much easier to live through.

Finally, see the finishes with your own eyes. Cabinet doors and stone slabs behave differently under showroom light than they do on a phone screen, and that is a short drive to sort out properly.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is your showroom from Independence?

About 19 miles, roughly a 25 minute drive. Take I-77 north to I-480 west, exit at Clague Road, then head north to Lorain Road. We are at 19389 Lorain Rd, open Monday to Wednesday 12 to 6 pm and Thursday 12 to 8 pm.

Do you work on homes in the Old Village?

Yes. The older streets near Brecksville Road usually have smaller kitchens with a doorway on nearly every wall. We measure what is actually there, then draw a layout that uses the corners and the full wall height instead of fighting them.

Can you open up a closed off Independence kitchen?

Often, yes. Many Independence kitchens are cut off from the dining room by a short wall. We check what is inside that wall first, then plan the cabinet run and the island around the answer rather than promising anything before we look.

Do I need a permit to remodel a kitchen?

Usually yes, once electrical or plumbing moves. Permits go through the City of Independence building department. We prepare the drawings and the paperwork that go with the work we perform, so you are not chasing it alone.

Can I have cabinets installed without a full remodel?

Yes. Some Independence homeowners keep the existing layout and replace only the cabinets and countertops. We supply and install both, and our crew scribes the boxes to walls and floors that are rarely perfectly square.

What should I bring to my first showroom visit?

Rough measurements of the room, a few photos, and anything you have saved that you like. That is enough for a designer to start drawing at the table with you on the same visit.
