About Cleveland Cabinets

Oberlin Kitchens, Planned Face to Face

Our showroom is a working cabinet store: full size doors on the wall, countertop slabs you can run a hand across, and a table where a designer sits down with you. Oberlin homeowners usually arrive with photos on a phone and a room that has never quite worked. We measure from your plan, not a template, and the same team that draws the kitchen is the team that installs it. Nothing gets handed off to an outside crew.

Countertops

Our Kitchen & Bathroom Countertop Options for Oberlin

Oberlin kitchens tend to be short on counter run, so the slab you pick matters as much as the colour.

Granite Countertops

Granite takes the wear an Oberlin family kitchen hands out, and the movement in the stone hides crumbs and water marks between wipe downs.

Our Services

Our Remodeling Services for Oberlin

Six things we do for Oberlin homes, all run by one team from the first measurement to the last handle.

Kitchen Remodeling

Cleveland Cabinets handles full kitchen remodeling for Oberlin homes, from the first layout to the final install. That covers cabinets, countertops, lighting and the crew that fits them, all managed by one team.

Bathroom Remodeling

We remodel Oberlin bathrooms, including the small second bath that never got touched. New vanity, storage sized to the room, and tile and countertop work by the same crew.

Cabinet Installation

We supply and install cabinets for Oberlin homes, including kitchens where the walls and floors are nowhere near level. Everything is scribed and shimmed on site so the doors line up.

Countertop Installation

We template, fabricate and install countertops for Oberlin kitchens and baths. Seams, sink cutouts and edge profiles are settled with you at the showroom before anything is cut.

Laundry Room Cabinets

Laundry in an Oberlin home is often a basement corner or a back hallway. We fit cabinets, a folding counter and a place for the sorting to actually happen.

Mudroom and Entryway

Oberlin winters come in through the back door. We build mudroom benches, hooks, closed cabinets and boot storage so the mess stops at the entry.

Get Directions from Oberlin
Main Driving Route

Head north out of Oberlin on Main Street, which is State Route 58. Stay on it past the north edge of town until you reach State Route 10.

Turn east on State Route 10 and stay on it. It runs along the south side of Elyria, past the exit for Lorain County Community College, then continues northeast through North Ridgeville, where it becomes Lorain Road.

Follow Lorain Road through North Olmsted and into Fairview Park. Our showroom is at 19389 Lorain Rd. Watch for the Cleveland Cabinets sign and park in front.

If State Route 10 is backed up, State Route 58 north to State Route 2 East, then Interstate 90 East, is the highway alternative. Longer in miles, usually similar in time.

Major Roads and Intersections

The three roads that matter: State Route 58, which is Main Street through Oberlin, then State Route 10, then Lorain Road.

Useful junctions along the way: State Route 511, Lorain Street, if you are starting on the east side of Oberlin, the Abbe Road junction on State Route 10 in Elyria, and the Interstate 480 interchange near North Olmsted.

Center Ridge Road, US Route 20, runs roughly parallel to Lorain Road to the north and makes a clean detour if Lorain Road is under construction. Columbia Road, State Route 252, brings you in from Olmsted Falls if that is your side of the route.

Landmarks Along the Way

Leaving town you pass Tappan Square and the downtown block on College Street before Main Street carries you north.

On State Route 10 you skirt the south edge of Elyria and pass the exit for Lorain County Community College, then the retail strip along Lorain Road in North Ridgeville.

Coming into North Olmsted, Great Northern Mall sits just off the route. From there Lorain Road runs into Fairview Park, past the Gemini Center, and our showroom is a short distance further east.

Kitchen remodeling in Oberlin

Kitchen remodeling in Oberlin

The homes on and around Professor Street, College Street and Elm Street were built with the kitchen tucked into a back corner, closed off from the dining room by a wall and one doorway. Cooking happens in a room nobody else is standing in.

That layout is the single most common thing Oberlin homeowners ask us to fix. Sometimes the wall comes out. More often it does not need to, because the storage is the real problem: one deep corner cabinet swallowing half the dishes, and a counter run too short to work on.

Out toward Pyle Road, Reserve Avenue and the newer streets on the edge of town the kitchens are already open. There the job is different: an island that seats people, a pantry that holds a full week of food, and drawers instead of doors at floor level.

More than 8,000 kitchen designs have come across our table, and a good share of them are Lorain County homes. We do not arrive in Oberlin assuming your walls are square or your floors are flat. Older homes here rarely are, and that changes how cabinets get set.

What we change in an Oberlin kitchen

What changes when an Oberlin kitchen is redesigned

Storage first. In an older Oberlin kitchen the cabinets run up part way and stop, leaving a dead shelf above the reach line and a blind corner nobody has emptied in years. We replace that with full height cabinets, drawer banks at the bottom, and pull outs where the corner used to be.

Then the way the room works. When the sink, the range and the refrigerator sit in a line along one wall, every task happens in the same three feet. Moving the sink under the window and pulling the refrigerator out of the walking path fixes more than a new door style ever will.

Counter surface is the third one. Plenty of Oberlin kitchens have under six feet of usable counter once the sink and the cooktop are accounted for. An island or a peninsula, even a small one, roughly doubles that.

There is a resale side to it too. So much of the housing near downtown Oberlin is similar in size and shape that buyers look hard at kitchens. A kitchen that reads as planned rather than patched is what separates two otherwise identical houses.

Planning an Oberlin kitchen project

What to think about before you start in Oberlin

Start with measurements, not a wish list. Bring the room dimensions, a photo of each wall, and a photo of the ceiling if there is a soffit. That is enough for a designer to tell you on the first visit whether the idea in your head fits the room you have.

Check with the City of Oberlin about permits before anything gets torn out, particularly if you are moving plumbing or opening a wall. Electrical and plumbing changes are usually where a permit comes in, and asking first is quicker than stopping halfway through.

Plan how you will live through the work. Most Oberlin homes we work in have one kitchen and no second sink, so we talk through where the microwave, the kettle and the coffee are going before the cabinets come out.

One team covers design through installation, so nothing sits waiting on an outside supplier. That is also why we ask you to come to the showroom once and settle the doors, the countertop and the hardware in the same sitting.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you work in Oberlin, or only closer to Cleveland?

Oberlin is a regular stop for us. The showroom is about 27 miles away, roughly a 35 minute drive up State Route 58 and east on State Route 10. Lorain County homes are a normal part of our schedule, not an exception.

How far is your showroom from Oberlin?

About 27 miles, and roughly 35 minutes depending on traffic and where in town you start. Take Main Street north out of Oberlin, which is State Route 58, then State Route 10 East, which becomes Lorain Road and runs to our door at 19389 Lorain Rd in Fairview Park. Both figures are approximate.

Can you open up a closed off Oberlin kitchen?

Often yes, and often it turns out not to be necessary. Many older Oberlin homes have a load bearing wall between the kitchen and the dining room, so we look at what that wall is doing before planning around it. In plenty of cases better storage and a moved sink solve the problem without touching structure.

Do I need an appointment to visit the showroom?

Walk ins are welcome during showroom hours, Monday to Wednesday 12 to 6 pm and Thursday 12 to 8 pm. Calling (216) 353-8600 ahead means a designer is free when you arrive, which is worth doing if you are driving in from Oberlin.

Do you install countertops as well as cabinets?

Yes. The same team designs the kitchen, supplies the cabinets and countertops, and installs both. Nothing is handed to an outside crew, so there is one number to call if anything needs attention later.

What warranty comes with the work?

Materials carry manufacturer warranties, and our own workmanship warranty covers the installation. Both are explained in writing before any work begins.
